In Uganda, banana leaves are often cut to be used as wrapping. The knives can transmit Xanthomonas wilt disease from an infected plant to healthy ones, and so one management technique to manage the disease is to train farmers to disinfect their knives as they move from plant to plant. More generally, farmers are being discouraged from cutting leaves for wrapping.
